Once upon a time, war games were everyday play for the children of Rojava. Everyone who played at being a fighter or doctor could be the hero in one another’s eyes.

And then the reality of the war against ISIS arrived in their lives.

Between 2011 and 2014, 14,000 heroes have been killed in Rojava, fighting for the freedom of humanity.

Their fight for human rights continues.
